KANSAI HELIOS

Industrial coatings for wood and furniture.

KANSAI HELIOS develops coating systems for finishing wood. The range combines colour effect, surface protection and the curing method — from indoor furniture to exterior joinery.

  • KOMBIHEL and EKOHEL: stains and patinas for colouring and highlighting the wood grain.
  • HIDROHEL and HELIODUR: water-based and polyurethane varnishes and enamels for suitable indoor applications.
  • UVEHEL / UVEHEL AQUA: UV-curing systems; AQUAVITA for exterior wooden elements.
What determines the choice of coating?

Important factors are the substrate (solid wood, veneer or MDF), the desired appearance and gloss, the required resistance, and the existing equipment for application and drying. A stain colours the wood, while the finishing varnish determines the final protection and feel.

We do not substitute a water-based, solvent-based or UV system without checking the process. We select a compatible system of base coat and top coat and take the technical data sheet of the specific product into account.

MITOL

Adhesives for workshop and industrial production.

MITOL from Sežana develops and manufactures adhesives for the wood industry. The range covers solid wood joining, veneering, edge bonding, profile wrapping and furniture assembly.

  • MEKOL: dispersion adhesives, including for solid wood, panel bonding and assembly joints.
  • TERMOKOL, ULTRA and PUR: hot-melt adhesives based on EVA, polyolefins or reactive polyurethane.
  • MITOPUR and UROKOL: polyurethane adhesives and powder urea-formaldehyde adhesives for suitable hot-pressing processes.
The edge adhesive and the machine must match each other.

Hot-melt adhesive is applied in a heated state. When selecting it, check the edge material, substrate, feed speed and adhesive unit. In addition to initial setting by cooling, PUR also cures chemically; the unit and cleaning must be suitable for this.

When bonding solid wood, check the wood moisture, open time, pressing time and required water resistance class. Properties such as D3 or D4 apply to the specific product and the prescribed application.

FRABO

Wood, laminates and upholstered furniture.

FRABO Adesivi is an Italian manufacturer of industrial adhesives based on water and solvents. For furniture production, the programmes for wood and laminates, and for upholstery and mattresses, are particularly interesting.

  • PRESCOL: vinyl adhesives for selected wood applications.
  • PRESSION and RESPAN: polychloroprene adhesives for application by spatula or spraying, depending on the product.
  • Upholstery: specialised solutions for bonding foams and other materials in seating furniture assemblies.
Where is contact bonding important?

When joining boards, decorative laminates and various other substrates, initial tack is also important. The type of adhesive is determined by both materials, the application method, the open time and the requirements of the final product.

FRABO offers different formulations and application processes. A product for wood or HPL should therefore not be transferred automatically to foam, fabric or plastic; compatibility is checked for the specific combination.

Collanti Concorde

Adhesives according to substrate and production process.

Collanti Concorde develops industrial adhesives for wood processing, furniture assembly and other demanding joints. The wood programme includes dispersion, hot-melt and polyurethane adhesives.

  • PROTOVIL: vinyl dispersion adhesives for solid wood, veneering and other bonding processes.
  • PROTOSTIK and PUROSTIK: EVA or reactive PUR hot-melt adhesives for suitable edge bonding, wrapping and laminating processes.
  • XILOBOND: polyurethane adhesives; special versions are selected according to the joint requirements.
Why are open time and application important?

The open time must correspond to the time between application and assembly. The viscosity must match the application method, while the pressing time depends on temperature, substrate and workflow organisation. The catalogue also shows different formulations for dowel insertion, veneering and laminating.

Required water resistance or suitability for load-bearing structures is checked at the level of the specific adhesive, documentation and process. The family name alone does not confirm these properties.

MORE ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY

Which piece of information helps us choose the right material?

What are you bonding or coating?

Specify both materials for bonding, or the substrate for coating. A product photo, information on indoor or outdoor use, and the required appearance and resistance all help.

How is the work carried out?

Describe the application, machine or unit, process speed and the time available for pressing or drying. This makes it easier to distinguish the material question from the process-setting question.
